Assistant Professor Learning & Development (.7 fte – 1.0 fte)

Department of Educational Research and Development, School of Business and Economics

What We Are Looking For

The Department of Educational Research and Development (School of Business and Economics) at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, invites applicants for a two-year position at the Assistant Professor level, with the possibility to extend it to a tenure-track position. Successful candidates will, by the time of appointment, have :

  • obtained a doctorate in the field of HRD, Learning in Organizations, Learning and Development, or a related field and
  • demonstrated excellence in research and teaching, and
  • 1 - 2 years work post-doctorate experience.

Your Challenges

The successful candidate is expected to further develop and contribute to our research program on Understanding and Supporting Formal and Informal learning at the Workplace. Next, the candidate will supervise Master and Doctorate students, and teach (post)graduate and undergraduate courses through face-to-face, problem-based, and hybrid instructional formats.

It is expected that candidates work in close collaboration with (professional) organizations participating in our research program, and are receptive for team work within our department.

Your Expertise

Candidates will have expertise in the field of Learning in Organizations, Learning and Development at the workplace as well as up-to-date skills in for this field of research appropriate research methodologies. They have an established publication record in leading research journals. Next, we expect that candidates can serve in educational leadership positions, and contribute to the department's educational development  activities. Procuring research and educational development funding is mandatory for this position. Proficient in Dutch language or willing to develop Dutch language skills (level c1) on a short term.

Who We Are

The Department of Educational Research and Development offers a highly engaging work environment. We serve Maastricht University, and the School of Business and Economics in particular, through a series of educational development projects. Next, we contribute to the highly ranked Master Degree Program Management of Learning. Our research projects are focused on the social nature of workplace learning.
